Most men like their food hearty, quick, and above all, delicious. Women are usually a little different. They prefer light and healthy meals. And this healthier choice pays off – women live an average of five years longer than men. Cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, and diabetes affect men more frequently, earlier, and often more severely than women.
Unfortunately, men often skimp on whole grains and vegetables simply because they don't enjoy the taste. While men, like women, quench their thirst with water about half the time, there's still some truth to the stereotype: nothing beats a cold beer. But eating and drinking healthily is anything but unmanly, and with the right strategy, it can even be a delicious adventure. We'll now show you what the male body needs and how you can best support it by eating the right foods.


A piece of vitality

Is meat healthy or unhealthy? Opinions on this are definitely divided. However, we believe that meat in moderation is by no means harmful. Those who want to eat healthily don't necessarily have to forgo meat products altogether. After all, they contain plenty of protein, B vitamins, iron, and zinc. But when it comes to consuming meat products, as is almost always the case, the dose makes the poison. To help you roughly estimate how much meat you can eat per week, here's a rule of thumb: A maximum of 600g of meat and sausage per week is recommended for an adult man. If you stick to these guidelines, even regular meat consumption shouldn't be a problem!


Boost your energy

You probably already know that fruits and vegetables should be an important part of your diet. This is because their high content of carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and phytochemicals makes them ideal energy sources for fitness. The great thing is that it doesn't matter whether the vegetables are fresh or frozen, meaning you can save yourself the tedious chopping while cooking.

Whole Grain Power

For your brain to function properly, your body needs sufficient carbohydrates, and the best way to get these is through whole-grain products. Treat yourself to a delicious avocado toast or a serving of whole-wheat pasta and do something good for your body. To meet your daily needs, you should aim for at least four slices of good whole-grain bread – and you can get creative with the toppings! Soups and stews with peas, lentils, or beans are filling and satisfying. They also contain valuable protein and provide plenty of fiber. In this respect, people are a bit like cars - without good oil, the engine runs poorly.Fat isn't always bad and can actually be really good for your health. And no, we're not talking about frying oil, butter, or lard. You should definitely limit your intake of those. These fats are indeed bad and can significantly raise cholesterol levels.
We're talking about oils like olive oil, avocado oil, or rapeseed oil, which are excellent for protecting the body's blood vessels. The ratio of monounsaturated to saturated fatty acids has a positive effect on blood lipids. In some cases, the body even needs these fats to absorb certain vitamins!

Fishy Goods

Fish is not only incredibly versatile, but it also tastes amazing. What's more, it's incredibly healthy! Fish provides the body with omega-3 fatty acids, which protect the heart. It also has a high iodine content, which has very positive effects on the thyroid gland!
But that's not all, because fish protein serves as a building block for cells and muscles. And this protein is in no way inferior to the protein from pork, beef, and poultry in terms of quantity and quality.

Looking for a healthy snack? Then nuts and seeds are your best bet, as they quickly and effectively make a valuable contribution to men's health! They are high in unsaturated fatty acids and fiber, which helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Spice it up

Too much salt is known to be very unhealthy, as it can raise blood pressure. This means you should be a little more moderate with the amount of salt you use. If you're a big salt eater, you can try gradually reducing your salt intake. Over time, you'll get used to the taste of less salt! When seasoning, opt for herbs instead – whether fresh or dried. They give every meal a special aroma and also expand the range of flavors! So, get those herbs ready, set, cook!

Stay Hydrated

You were probably told it as a child – drink enough water! And there's a good reason for that, or rather, several. Water gets your circulation going, flushes your kidneys, and clears your head. It can also reduce your appetite and thus even help with weight loss. An adult man should drink approximately two to three liters of water per day. To quench your thirst, you should ideally choose mineral water, unsweetened beverages, or reduced-calorie soft drinks.

Of course, a good glass of red wine with meat or a beer with dinner is always a treat – we admit that. If it's just one glass, there are usually no health concerns. Naturally, this depends on individual health and cannot be generalized.
Strictly speaking, an adult man should consume no more than 20g of alcohol per day. That's roughly equivalent to a "half-liter" – as they say in Bavaria. So, 500ml of beer. Any more of this intoxicating indulgence can be problematic for mental and physical well-being.
