Iron

Iron is a vital trace element. Iron deficiency manifests itself, for example, in lethargy, lack of motivation, and exhaustion. Iron is found in both animal and plant-based foods; however, the iron contained in plants (z.B. Iron (from legumes) is less readily absorbed by the body because phytic acid in plants inhibits absorption. This is why vegans and vegetarians are often affected by an insufficient intake of this trace element. Vitamin C and other bioactive substances help support iron absorption in the intestines.
