Episode 1 - Bacterial Circus - The Acrobats in Our Gut
In our first episode of the podcast Better Inputs - Better Outputs, we discuss the functions of our gut and the microbiome. Our guest is physician Adrian Weingart, who is responsible for product development at mybacs. Weingart holds a dual degree in medicine and dentistry from the Technical University of Munich and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
Minutes 1-5: Facts about the gut, its function, and the development and function of the microbiome.
Minutes 6-10: The connection between nutrition, the gut, and physical and mental health. The production of happiness hormones and digestion.
Minutes 11-15: What types of bacteria are there? What are good and bad bacteria? What are probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics – the fuels of our digestive tract?
Minutes 16-20: What is the deal with "natural" probiotics from fermented foods, and what are their advantages and disadvantages compared to industrial products like those from mybacs?
Minutes 21-25: What should I consider when choosing a probiotic? What are colony-forming units (CFUs)?
Minutes 26-30: What are the benefits of probiotics, and is there anything I can do wrong when taking them?
BETTER INPUTS - BETTER OUTPUTS
In our podcast, we talk about topics no one wants to discuss. Most people are probably familiar with them from their daily lives: food intolerances, digestive problems, or bloating. The gut flora is crucial for digestion, defending against germs and toxins, and strengthening the immune system. All of this is controlled by the composition of bacteria... so it's no wonder that it's not only a hot topic right now, but also the subject of current research. But where does it all come from, and is there any chance of improvement? Current research findings offer hope that in the future, the gut flora can be specifically modulated through diet and probiotics and prebiotics. We regularly talk to scientists, doctors, and those affected about gut health, the microbiome, gut flora, and probiotics.
